Ballarat Football Netball League Inc.

The Ballarat Football & Netball League Inc was formed in 1893 and currently in 2012 have 11 senior football and netball clubs consisting of 33 football and 44 netball teams. Our clubs are:

Our junior competition is made up of 10 junior clubs consisting of 80 teams from U/10 through to U/16.5. Our junior clubs are:

For the first time in 2012, the BFNL will be introducing Junior Netball to its junior structure and players will be able to compete in U/12, U/14 and U/16.5 competitions.

Each week the Ballarat Football League has over 900 players participating in senior football, 400 netballers and approx 1,600 juniors playing football.

The Ballarat Football Netball League has a long and proud history having won division 1 titles in the VCFL Country Championships in 1956, 81, 82, 83 & 86 and winning division 2 titles in 1991, 95, 01, 03 & 04.

The Ballarat Football Netball League, after back to back wins in Division 2, were promoted to the Premier Division One in 2005, and after a fantastic campaign in Albury fell just short being Runners Up for the Division 1 title. Our Senior Netballers were also Runners Up, and our Under 18 footballers went 1 step further and were undefeated over the carnival, and were proclaimed Division 1 VCFL State Champions.

In 2012, our Interleague sides will host the Geelong Football Netball League after failing to win our first Division 1 title in 25 years after losing the Goulburn Valley FNL. A win this year against Geelong will provide us with another shot in 2013.

Jim Gull (Daylesford) holds the league goal kicking record kicking an incredible 159 goals in 1961. Jim Gull was an icon in the Ballarat Football League winning the goal kicking award on 8 occasions.

Jason McNamara from the North Ballarat City FNC is the current league Best & Fairest after winning the Henderson Medal for the first time in his career.

Melton South FNC Forward Matthew Sutton is the current Tony Lockett Medalist after securing the award for the first time. Matthew finished 2011 with 65 goals to his name adding a further 3 during the finals series to bring his tally to 68 for the year.

The Redan Football Netball Club are the current Ballarat Football Netball League Senior Football Premiers after winning their 6th Premiership in ten years. The Redan Football Netball Club are also the current Senior Netball Premiers after winning their first premiership.
